This project captures authenticity and intimacy between my friends.
I was intrigued by how these small moments could seem insignificant in the lives of college students. But thinking into it, it is these small moments that make up our life as a whole: complaining about the week starting on Mondays, accepting the fact that a new week has started on Tuesdays, just being there for Wednesdays and Thursdays, finishing classes and having a fun night on Fridays, sleeping in on Saturdays, and cramming all the work on Sundays. This repetition of week after week might seem universal in all students’ lives, but what I have with this group of friends is unique to each of us.
The series encompasses both portraits and still life, each serving as a reflective narrative of the other. Over the semester, my camera has become a familiar presence during our Friday night gatherings. My friends gradually grew used to the lens, allowing their true selves to surface and be captured in the photographs. The still life photos provide further context of the environment we were in. These images now represent genuine moments of laughter and conversation, and I think they well-represented my sophomore year with my friends.
