In Progress: Senior Thesis

My work focuses on the relationship between individuals and objects they keep close. These images capture myself and two of my closest friends with objects we brought from home: a home halfway across the world for many of us. From jewelry to stuffed animals, I'm exploring why these objects serve as a surrogate for the familiar and the comfort we used to have. By taking these images in our bedrooms, I want to emphasize how these spaces and objects have shaped our identity and become a vessel for our lives.

I create closely framed portraits that center on small gestures and moments of contact between body and object. A necklace resting on the skin or a worn object held in the hand becomes a way to trace attachment and care. Images of bedrooms extend this focus, showing how personal spaces are arranged, inhabited, and subtly maintained. They invite viewers to trace their own attachments and to consider how ordinary objects come to carry emotions and meaning over time. My images should not be read as product photographs of commodities, but as records of objects shaped by use, proximity, and memory.
